Bio
Tamara practices exclusively in the areas of litigation, dispute resolution and business law.
An accomplished litigator, Tamara has significant courtroom experience, with multiple successful lower court and appellate decisions. She has been recognized by her peers in the legal industry as a Best Lawyer in Canada One to Watch in Commercial Litigation. She also has a depth of experience in corporate law and transactional matters which allow her to bring an interdisciplinary and creative perspective to her clients’ legal issues.
She acts for corporations and entrepreneurs in transactional and contract dispute matters as well as matters related to corporate governance and shareholders rights. Tamara recognizes that a quick and efficient resolution is often preferable to the uncertainty and, time and cost of the court system. Tamara’s focus on pre-emptive strategies, rapid response and a holistic understanding of the business issues underlying the legal dispute will often allow her clients to reach a favourable outcome prior to litigation so they can ‘get on with business’.
Tamara earned her Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, where she received numerous awards for academic achievement and community involvement. In law school, Tamara served as a student law clerk at the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and as a peer educator focusing on contract law in the Indigenous Blacks & Mi’kmaq Initiative. Tamara competed in the Sopinka Cup trial advocacy moot and in the McKelvey Cup, where she won Best Overall Advocate and Best Closing.
