Loopstra Nixon LLP expands to Newmarket, Ontario
Growing firm acquires Preben Schmidt Law Office and opens additional full-time office in one of Ontario’s fastest growing regions.
Loopstra Nixon LLP is pleased to announce that Preben Schmidt has joined the firm as counsel. Schmidt was a partner in the Estates and Trusts practice at a national law firm for over 20 years before leading his own firm in Newmarket, Ontario focused on Corporate Law, Estate Planning and Administration and Real Estate. This expansion to Newmarket will add to Loopstra Nixon’s existing strength throughout York Region.

Celebrating 50 years in Etobicoke, where its head office is located, the firm operates offices in Downtown Toronto and Vaughan as well as US satellite offices in Buffalo and New York City. “Over the last decade, our expansion strategy has focused on mid-market excellence, which includes bringing our services to the fast-growing communities where mid-market businesses are the primary economic drivers” said Loopstra Nixon co-founder Charles Loopstra, himself a long-time friend and law school classmate of Schmidt.

The Newmarket office will be staffed by experienced lawyers who understand the needs of the community. In addition, Loopstra Nixon has formed a Newmarket business development group including wills & estates partner, Jessica Elie, corporate law partner, Michelle Mondorf, corporate lawyers Adam Burt, Xenos Chu and estates lawyers Sarah Mumtaz and Baira Oldurova. Preben and long-time law clerks Tanya Massaro-Francioni and Michelle Wu will continue to work on a full-time basis from the firm’s Newmarket office.
