Loopstra Nixon LLP provides a full range of legal services in all aspects of municipal law to both private parties as well as urban and rural municipalities across the province.

This includes providing opinion letters to Council on issues such as the application and interpretation of legislation and regulations; the interpretation, validity and enforceability of by-laws; procedural matters and governance; municipal water and wastewater infrastructure financing; municipal liability; municipal powers and processes respecting highways; municipal powers related to taxes, fees, and charges; and, municipal licensing powers and processes.

We also have extensive experience drafting municipal by-laws, negotiating and drafting complex agreements and legal contracts, providing strategic advice and assisting with the negotiation of major infrastructure projects, and attending Council and Committee meetings.
