Appearing before tribunals and courts is a fundamental element of our municipal and planning practice.

We regularly appear before the Ontario Land Tribunal (formerly the Ontario Municipal Board and Local Planning Appeal Tribunal) in matters under the Planning Act, Development Charges Act and Ontario Heritage Act, as well as representing clients in court applications and appeals.  Where circumstances are appropriate, we also find significant success in resolving matters through both private and Tribunal-led mediation processes and settlement discussions.

As part of our litigation strategy, we always consider whether a settlement is achievable for a client because we know that a properly structured settlement can achieve results that minimize client expenditure while achieving client objectives.
