Deal Update: Franchising Law

Loopstra Nixon Partner David Kornhauser acted for BarBurrito Restaurants Inc. in its October 2023 sale of Canadian trademarks and other intellectual property rights to BARB Royalties Limited Partnership, a wholly owned subsidiary of Diversified Royalty Corp. for an aggregate purchase price of $108m.

The initial roll in was comprised of 225 BarBurrito restaurants across Canada.  BARB Royalties then licensed back the trademarks and intellectual property rights to BarBurrito so that it could continue to further expand the BarBurrito system.  Loopstra Nixon articling student Erin Hebert provided additional assistance.
