Bio
Prior to joining Loopstra Nixon LLP, Matthew was a partner at a leading estate litigation boutique firm in Toronto.
Matthew’s expertise in estate litigation is widely recognized by his clients and colleagues. Matthew is ranked in the 2024 Canadian Lexpert Dictionary for Estates & Personal Tax Planning (Litigation). Matthew has been ranked by his peers in Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” in the area of trusts and estates law (2022, 2023 and 2024). He is also ranked for the third year in a row in the “Private Wealth Disputes – Canada” category of Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide (2022, 2023 and 2024) twice as an “Up and Coming” lawyer, and currently as a band 3 ranked practitioner. In 2021, Matthew was awarded the Hoffstein Book Prize by the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) for his contributions and achievements to the area of wills, trusts and estates. Matthew currently serves as the Chair of the OBA Elder Law Executive Committee, and as a member of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Elder Law Executive Committee.
